Take transit. Move forward together.

All Aboard Bay Area Transit

Every day, people everywhere are on the move. Bay Area transit ridership is up in 2025, and agencies have new initiatives to improve safety, cleanliness and reliability.

Whether you are going to work or going to school, seeing friends and family, or just running errands, the Bay Area’s buses, ferries and trains will get you where you want to go. We have the connections to get you across town, across counties or across the bay.

Please visit the Transit Agencies and Service Information page for the latest info from each transit provider.

Coordinating for You

Bay Area transit agencies, along with state and local elected officials, advocates for people with disabilities, business and labor groups, and transit and social justice advocates, approved a 27-point Transit Transformation Action Plan to re-shape the Bay Area’s transit system into a more connected, more efficient, and more user-focused network across the entire Bay Area.

Working Toward Reliable Funding

MTC is working with transit agencies to secure new investments dedicated to transit in the Bay Area. Transit agencies are using federal and state emergency funds to run service and balance operating budgets. But these funds will soon run out. Many agencies face devastating cuts that will have serious impacts on the Bay Area’s quality of life.

A new reliable source of money for transit operations will prevent disastrous service cuts and will transform the Bay Area's transportation system, connecting people to the places they need and want to go while reducing traffic, preventing pollution and improving the economy.
