Take Transit to Pride Events in June

Over 1 million people attend San Francisco's Pride every year. Don't fight them for parking – take transit instead!

If you are heading to the San Francisco Pride Parade and Celebration on Sunday, June 28, or any other Bay Area events for Pride Month, use transit to get around affordably and easily – and use the cash you saved to celebrate.

Here are your transit options to get you to the parade:

  • BART: Ride to Embarcadero, Montgomery, Powell or Civic Center/UN Plaza Station and exit for the parade. Or ride all the way to Civic Center/UN Plaza, which is one block from the Celebration at Civic Center Plaza. BART plans to help people "ride with pride" by opening at 8 a.m. and offering five-line service. Trains will be scheduled to arrive every five minutes at the downtown San Francisco stations. After 9 p.m., service will be reduced to three lines. Special event trains will run between Millbrae and downtown San Francisco, as well as from Pleasant Hill from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m., before restarting at 2 p.m. until the evening.
  • Muni: Ride Muni Metro light-rail to the Embarcadero, Montgomery, Powell or Civic Center Station, which is one block from the Celebration at Civic Center Plaza. Bus routes that typically run down Market St. will be re-routed to run onto Misson St.
  • Caltrain: Coming from the Peninsula or South Bay? Caltrain will be offering its half-hourly regular weekend service from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ride Caltrain to the San Francisco (4th & King) Station. Transfer to the Muni Metro T-Third to get off at Powell St. Station or transfer to the Muni Metro N-Judah to ride to Civic Center Station.
  • AC Transit and other transbay bus routes: AC Transit will offer its regular weekend transbay service. Ride to Salesforce Transit Center and then walk approximately 6 minutes via 1st or 2nd Streets to Market St.
  • San Francisco Bay Ferry: SF Bay Ferry will offer additional morning service from Vallejo, Oakland and Alameda alongside their regular weekend service.

  • Golden Gate Transit: Buses and ferries will run on their regular weekend service. People looking to arrive early are encouraged to take the 9 a.m. Larkspur ferry that will travel directly to the San Francisco Ferry Terminal.

Paying for Your Ride

The Bay Area’s nearly two dozen transit agencies now accept contactless credit and debit cards for adult fare payment in addition to existing plastic Clipper cards and mobile Clipper cards in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

The 'tap-and-ride' feature that allows riders to use a contactless bank card for fare payment includes mobile cards as well as traditional plastic credit or debit cards.

'Tap-and-ride' is expected to be a big time-saver for Bay Area visitors as well as residents who can now use their contactless bank cards to board buses, trains and ferries with no registration or setup process required. Each person needs their own card or mobile device for payment.

Moving the Bay Area With Pride

For the first time, local transit agencies have joined forces with a single message - Moving the Bay Area With Pride – to highlight the connectivity and inclusivity that public transportation helps foster every day throughout the Bay Area. Many transit agencies will march together in the San Francisco Pride Parade on June 28 under the shared theme.
