Take Transit to Pride Events in June

Over 1 million people attend San Francisco's Pride every year. Don't fight them for parking – take transit instead!

If you are heading to the San Francisco Pride Parade and Celebration on Sunday, June 28, or any other Bay Area events for Pride Month, use transit to get around affordably and easily – and use the cash you saved to celebrate.

Here are your transit options to get you to the parade:

  • BART: Ride to Civic Center/UN Plaza Station, which is one block from the Celebration at Civic Center Plaza.
  • Muni: Ride Muni Metro to the Civic Center Station, which is one block from the Celebration at Civic Center Plaza. Bus routes that serve the area include the 5, 6, 7, 9, 19, 21, 47 and 49.
  • Caltrain: Coming from the Peninsula or South Bay? Ride Caltrain to the San Francisco (4th & King) Station. Transfer to the Muni Metro T-Third to get off at Powell St. Station or transfer to the Muni Metro N-Judah to ride to Civic Center Station.
  • Salesforce Transit Center: Take AC Transit and other transbay bus routes to Salesforce Transit Center. Walk approximately 6 minutes via 1st or 2nd Streets to Market St.

Paying for Your Ride

The Bay Area’s nearly two dozen transit agencies now accept contactless credit and debit cards for adult fare payment in addition to existing plastic Clipper cards and mobile Clipper cards in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

The 'tap-and-ride' feature that allows riders to use a contactless bank card for fare payment includes mobile cards as well as traditional plastic credit or debit cards.

'Tap-and-ride' is expected to be a big time-saver for Bay Area visitors as well as residents who can now use their contactless bank cards to board buses, trains and ferries with no registration or setup process required. Each person needs their own card or mobile device for payment.

Moving the Bay Area With Pride

For the first time, local transit agencies have joined forces with a single message - Moving the Bay Area With Pride – to highlight the connectivity and inclusivity that public transportation helps foster every day throughout the Bay Area. Many transit agencies will march together in the San Francisco Pride Parade on June 28 under the shared theme.
