BART’s new September schedule will mean no rider will wait more than 20 minutes for a scheduled train no matter what hour of the day or day of the week. Right now, we are providing a better level of schedule consistency seven days a week than we’ve ever had before.

Caltrain provides rail service along the Peninsula, with daily service from San Francisco to San Jose, extending to Gilroy during weekday commute hours. Caltrain will offer more service and choices for its customer than ever before, by implementing service increases to expand service options and maintain regional connections to BART and other agencies. The improvements will provide faster and more frequent all day service for people returning to work, school and social events.

FAST, (no longer Fairfield and Suisun Transit), underwent a Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA) in December 2020. Per the recommendations, FAST has been progressing through various phases to administer changes within current transit services. In July 2023, fixed route and paratransit fares increased; and in September, FAST CONNECT (on-demand microtransit) was added to serve two zones, Cordelia/Green Valley and Northeast Fairfield. Adding these zones eliminated routes 2, 4, and 6 and converted route 8 to the 8 Tripper. To schedule rides in these zones, the “Ride Pingo” app can be downloaded on smartphones and rides can be prescheduled 24 hours in advance. FAST also eliminated fixed route paper passes to move toward contactless payment options, including Clipper, Token Transit (mobile app), and Ride Pingo (FAST Connect mobile app). The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District operates and maintains the Golden Gate Bridge and two unified public transit systems – Golden Gate Transit and Golden Gate Ferry – connecting the counties of Marin, Sonoma, San Francisco, and Contra Costa. Golden Gate Transit operates bus service in a 60 mile service area along the Hwy. 101 corridor from Santa Rosa to San Francisco. Golden Gate Ferry serves Larkspur, Sausalito and Tiburon with service to San Francisco.

Marin Transit provides local public transit service in Marin County. Marin Transit offers high-capacity service on major corridors, community shuttles, rural service into West Marin, supplemental school services, demand-response paratransit and specialized services and programs for older adults and people with disabilities. Vine Transit is maintaining regional service at pre-pandemic levels and has restored service to the Vallejo Ferry Terminal and the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station. Within the City of Napa, Vine will continue to operate a hybrid system that includes fixed routes and on-demand service. SamTrans provides bus and paratransit service throughout San Mateo County, and into parts of San Francisco and Palo Alto. SamTrans is increasing its operations and modifying its schedule, which includes the resumption of School-Day Service on all routes, and some schedule and routing adjustments. The SFMTA oversees Muni, San Francisco's network of fuel-efficient buses, light rail Metro trains, historic streetcars and iconic cable cars. Santa Rosa CityBus restored service levels to 85 percent of pre-pandemic levels on August 8, including full restoration of weekend service, increased weekday frequencies, and shifting schedules to better align with new bell times at city schools. On July 1 CityBus launched its Unlimited Rides Youth Program. The program takes aim at providing free transit for 30,000 school age children through grade 12. The program is one of a suite of unlimited rides programs CityBus offers to veterans, college students, paratransit riders, employers, and residential developments. Visit: srcity.org/CityBus

SolTrans is the local bus and paratransit provider for Benicia and Vallejo and the operator of the Solano County’s intercity commuter service, SolanoExpress. Their services connect Benicia, Vallejo, and Solano County residents locally, regionally, and support major transfer connections. The SolanoExpress Blue, Green, Red, and Yellow Lines connect with local and regional transit partners like BART, Amtrak, County Connection, Dixon Ready Ride, FAST, Golden Gate Transit, Napa Vine, Vacaville City Coach, Vallejo Ferry, WestCAT and Greyhound. The SolTrans Route 82 provides direct service to the San Francisco Ferry Terminal during peak morning and evening commute hours.

SMART provides 18 southbound and 18 northbound trips every weekday and six southbound and six northbound trips on Saturday and Sunday.

Fares: SMART reduced its fares in 2021 – weekday fares are now $1.50 for each zone traveled. Seniors, youth, low-income, and passengers with disabilities will receive a 50% discount rate of $0.75 for each zone travelled.

Union City Transit is operating normally. Current schedules are in effect until Friday, September 8, 2023. New schedules will take effect on Saturday, September 9, 2023, with adjustments to connect to the new BART schedules taking effect on Monday, September 11, 2023. No service hour changes are planned, but bus schedules will be adjusted to connect with both BART Orange Line (Richmond-Berryessa) and Green Line (Day City-Berryessa) trains because of new frequencies. The Flea (Flexible, Local, Easy, Access) microtransit service will operate on-demand in an expanded service area and service hours during the weekdays starting Monday, September 11, 2023, with possible expansion to weekends starting in February 2024. Masks are not required, but are advised. Drivers no longer carry masks with them. Fare Discounts: Union City Transit is participating in the Clipper START, Clipper BayPass, and Alameda County Student Transit Pass Program (STPP) on Clipper for great transit discounts. Union City Transit encourages getting Clipper mobile on your phone and loading your digital card into your Apple or Android digital wallet platform.

WestCAT is again operating full passenger capacity on all buses without social distancing restrictions and looks forward to welcoming back more passengers. While no longer a requirement, face masks are highly encouraged to be worn while riding and waiting for all WestCAT buses.
